West Branch, Beckman, BGM among Week 5 winners

WEST BRANCH 56, WAPELLO 8 - After falling behind 8-6 early, West Branch turned things over to Cade Jones, who tied a school record with five rushing touchdowns as the Bears rolled to a 56-8 prep football win over Wapello Friday in a Class 1A, District 6 game at Wapello.
Jones is the fourth player in Bears' history to score five touchdowns in a game. He finished with 183 yards as West Branch moved to 3-2, 2-1.
Bo Bower also had a pair of touchdowns for West Branch.
The Bears' defense held Wapello (4-2, 2-2) to 73 total yards, including a minus-16 yards on the ground.

UNION 56, ANAMOSA 27
Union broke away in the second half to down the Raiders in Anamosa, despite a 496-yard passing performance fron Nik Schulte.
Union (4-1, 2-1 Class 3A, District 5) took control in the third quarter on a 20-yard interception return for a score by Shay Fehl and a 40-yard punt return from Jay Scheel.
Anamosa is 2-3, 0-3.

NORTH CEDAR 30, HIGHLAND 15
DECORAH 38, CRESTWOOD 14 - Josey Jewell ran for 129 yards on 11 carries, including an 83-yard TD run, and Gayge Samuelson added a pair of short scoring runs to lead Decorah at home.
The Vikings (4-1, 3-0 Class 3A, District 4) also got a 73-yard scoring run from Kyle Hove, who finished with 113 yards on eight carries.
Samuelson also had two interceptions on defense.
For Crestwood (2-3, 1-2), Colter Freidhof was 11 of 27 passing for 175 yards and a score.

DYERSVILLE BECKMAN 48, CASCADE 13 - Connor Golden completed 8 of 12 passes for 144 yards and four touchdowns as Beckman built a 34-0 lead at halftime and went on to the easy Class 2A District 4 win at home.
Robbie Anstoetter had two catches for 74 yards, both going for touchdowns. Ty Troutmand and Nate Steger also caught scoring strikes from Golden for the Blazers, 4-1, 2-1.
Cascade falls to 2-3, 1-2.

WEST DELAWARE 21, CHARLES CITY 0 - Sam Lahr ran for 187 yards on 23 carries and scored all three touchdowns as West Delaware maintained a share of the lead in Class 3A, District 4 with a win in Charles City.
Lahr scored on runs of 11, 9 and 33 yards for the Hawks (4-1, 3-0). West Delaware held Charles City (1-4, 1-2) to 120 yards to total offense.

BGM 27, IOWA VALLEY 6 - Danny Brau had a 59-yard touchdown run and Nate Beck added a 3-yard touchdown run for BGM at Marengo.
Spencer Gritsch had a 1-yard touchdown run and Chase Faas caught a 28-yard touchdown forthe Bears (4-1, 3-0).
GRINNELL 23, BENTON COMMUNITY 7 - Wolfgang Strovers ran for 43 yards and scored one touchdown on six carries as Grinnell (4-1, 3-0 3A-6) won at home.
Eli Dunne completed 13 of 19 passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns for the Tigers.
Jake Stenberg went 6-of 14 through the air for 85 yards and one touchdown in the loss for Benton Community.
STARMONT 24, MAQUKETA VALLEY 16
The Stars improved to 5-0, 3-0 in Class 1A-5 win a win in Delhi.
The Wildcats lost for the second week in a row, falling to 3-2, 1-2.
