Washington's Hammond in state tennis final

IOWA CITY - Cedar Rapids Washington's Katie Hammond advanced to the finals of the Class 2A state singles tennis tournament today, beating Liera Bender of Johnson, 6-1, 6-0.

She will face Jessica King of Ames this afternoon.

King advanced with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Iowa City High freshman Eve Small.
