Cedar Rapids Washington 77, Cedar Rapids Kennedy 43Tia Dawson scored 18 points to help Class 4A seventh-ranked Cedar Rapids Washington easily defeat Cedar Rapids Kennedy, 77-43, last night in a girls' basketball game at the Washington gym.Ashley Piper and Janay Pritchett added 11 points each for Washington (15-3, 12-2), which remained a game behind Linn-Mar for first place in the Mississippi Division of the Mississippi Valley Conference. The teams play next week.Courtney Strait scored 13 points to lead Kennedy (6-12, 5-9).Washington led 43-29 at halftime, then raced to a 64-38 edge after three quarters.
Iowa City West 66, Cedar Rapids Jefferson 44Ally Disterhoft scored 14 points and Shahana Williams added 13 to lead West (17-1, 13-1 MVC) to a big win at home.The the Women of Troy have already clinched the Valley Division of the Mississippi Valley Conference. Jefferson (5-13, 4-10 MVC) was led by Taylor Jacobson's 23 points.
Iowa City High 57, Cedar Rapids Prairie 42Virginia Johnson scored 24 points to lead the Little Hawks (15-4, 10-4 MVC) to a victory at Prairie.Sierra Chambers added 11 points for City High and Kayla Hyche made three 3-pointers and finished with nine points.Alyssa Weiland scored 10 points for the Hawks (4-15, 3-11) Madison Dellamuth chipped in with 9 points for Prairie.
Waterloo Columbus 51, Marion 40 Kate Letkewicz scored 20 points to lead the Sailors to a win last night at Marion. Kim Bearbower and Rachel Schaefer each added 9 points for the winners (9-10, 7-6 Wamac West).Kristin Kramer scored 11 points, including a 3-point basket for the Indians (6-12, 4-8) Jessie Kramer and Dani Peyton scored seven points each for Marion. ----
