Video: Iowa football practice drills
Aug. 12, 2015 5:39 pm
IOWA CITY - The door was cracked an inch at the Iowa football complex today, and a few of us got to peek inside for a few minutes.
Practice was open to reporters for the first 30 or so minutes, which meant we got to see warm-up jogs and a few position drills. There also were a few plays before the horn sounded and it was time to go.
In truth, we saw very little, but we observed as much as we could. Guard Jordan Walsh is out with an undisclosed injury, so Sean Welsh was working with the first team. Safety Jordan Lomax wasn't wearing pads, but running back LeShun Daniels was in a regular jersey after getting 'nicked up” on Saturday. Tight end Jake Duzey was in shorts participating in calisthenics and remains withheld from contact after spring knee surgery to repair a torn patella tendon in his left knee.
Four players were working as part of returns: cornerback Desmond King, wide receiver Matt VandeBerg and true freshman wide receivers Emmanuel Ogwo and Jerminic Smith. What does that mean now? It's way too early to tell.
Anyhoo, we'll get a fuller view of this team on Saturday. Today provided just a snapshot, but anything is more than nothing this time of year.
