IOWA CITY, IOWA -- Iowa left tackle Brandon Scherff suffered an apparent knee injury in the second quarter against Ball State and walked into the locker room under his own power.
Scherff came up limping after pursuing Ball State defender Blake Dueitt on a fumble recovery. Dueitt scored a touchdown on the play, putting the Cardinals up 7-0. Scherff initially stood up, then went to the ground in the end zone as trainers came to check on him. The left tackle has not returned to the game in the two Hawkeye possessions since, and has been replaced by Ike Boettger at left tackle.
Update: Scherff has returned to the game. Iowa trails, 7-3, with just over three minutes left in the first half.
