UNI rallies for 6th win of season

The University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team rallied from a 23-20 halftime deficit to beat the University of South Dakota last night, 53-43, in the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls.
Mercedees Morgan led the Panthers with 18 points and six rebounds. Morgan buried 3-pointers and blocked three Coyote shots. Former Cedar Rapids Washington prep K.K. Armstrong scored all 14 of her points in the second half for UNI. Amber Kirschbaum had seven points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
The Panthers (6-2) came out hot in the second half, going on a 10-3 run in the first four minutes.
UNI won the battle of the boards, 41-36, and capitalized on 20 Coyote turnovers, turning them in to 22 points.
COE 74, CENTRAL 60 - Leslie Ware scored 19 points and Kayla Wasko added 18 as the Kohawks improved to 6-2, 3-0 with an Iowa Conference win in Pella.
Megan Hayes added 13 points and a game-high eight rebounds for Coe, which led 35-26 at halftime.
Simpson (3-4, 0-3) was led by Sarah Paulson with 14 points.
MOUNT MERCY 82, WILLIAM PENN 71 - With all five starters scoring in double-figures, the 11th-ranked Mustangs rolled to a Midwest Collegiate Conference win at home.
Amanda Frost led Mount Mercy (7-4, 2-0) with 19 points, Laura Lippert added 18, Micah Mims 17, Emily Greiner 12 and Brooke Quigley 10. Quigley also had nine rebounds.
Orielle Thomas led William Penn (2-11, 0-2) with 17 points.
CORNELL 54, DUBUQUE 47 - Kathryn Schilling scored 13 points and Rikki Mulloy added 10 as the Rams (4-3, 2-1) won in Mount Vernon.
Cornell scored 37 second-half points after holding a 17-14 edge at halftime.
Meggie Schmidt led Dubuque (2-4, 0-2) with 20 points.
SIMPSON 78, LUTHER 45 - Kate Nielsen scored 19 points on 9-of-11 shooting to lead Simpson (6-2, 2-1) at home.
Taylor Johnson had a game-high 21 points for the Norse (1-6, 0-3).
