University of Northern Iowa offensive lineman Evan Tecklenburg has been dismissed from the football team after his third arrest in 16 months.
Tecklenburg, a Muscatine High School graduate, was arrested in Cedar Falls early Sunday for allegedly operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
The sophomore had been arrested Sept. 13, 2008 for operating while intoxicated on Sept. 13, 2008 following a traffic accident. In July 2009, Tecklenburg was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
He received a deferred judgment for the first OWI arrest, meaning the charge would be removed from his record if he completed a one-year probation.
Northern Iowa coach Mark Farley said Tecklenburg, a reserve who started two games last season, lost his scholarship after his second arrest.
