UNI football heavily favored to win conference

Northern Iowa is the overwhelming favorite to win the Missouri Valley Football Conference title this fall, the league announced Monday.
The Panthers received 26 of the 36 first-place votes and totaled 314 points, 33 more than Southern Illinois.
The Panthers also placed 11 players on the league's “All-Select NFL Team,” including Kurt Warner and Dedric Ward of Cedar Rapids. The MVFC, in its 25th season, is conducting a season-long tribute and a Silver Anniversary team.
