MARION -- A pair of talented twins probably will be spending their senior year at Linn-Mar High School.Lisa Sommer said Wednesday that she is "95-percent sure" that her daughters, Katie and Kristie Sommer, will enroll at Linn-Mar in the fall. They currently are juniors at Dubuque Senior."I'm getting transferred with my job, and Linn-Mar is the closest school (geographically)," she said. "The plan is for the girls to play softball here, and then to move after the softball season."We look at this as a great opportunity."If they move, the twins would have one complete school-year cycle at Linn-Mar, beginning in the fall and concluding with the softball season in 2014.Katie Sommer was a first-team all-state utility softball player last summer while Kristie was a second-team catcher. On the basketball court, Katie (a 5-foot-6 guard) averaged 15.5 points per game last season Kristie (5-7 guard) added 13.9 as the Rams finished 12-11 and reached the Class 5A regional finals.Katie participates in cross country in the fall; Kristie plays volleyball.Lisa Sommer said that she has met with Linn-Mar girls' basketball coach Mike Brandt about the team's summer-camp schedule."It was a good meeting," Sommer said. "We hope to get down there after school gets out and have the girls meet the players."Linn-Mar was 10-13 last season in basketball and loses much of its roster to graduation. In softball, the Lions were 20-18 last summer.
