Marion surged from a 51-51 score at the end of regulation to defeat Independence, 61-56, in overtime last night in a Wamac boys' basketball game at Independence.
Dylan Cronk scored a season-high 28 points for Marion, including 9 of 11 free throws. Dusty Albaugh made three 3-pointers and added 14 points for the Indians.Nick Zieser scored 22 points for Independence.Marion improved to 9-6 overall and 9-4 in conference play. Independence is 2-10 in both.

JEFFERSON 64, DUBUQUE WAHLERT 56 - Jarrod Uthoff posted team-highs with 23 points and eight rebounds to lead the J-Hawks to a Mississippi Valley Conference road victory.Ky Kramer added 12 points and Alec Saunders 10 for Jefferson (11-2, 7-2 MVC), which had a 17-point lead dwindled to one late in the game.Aaron Schueller drained five 3-pointers en route to a game-high 25 points for Wahlert (9-4, 6-3 MVC).
LINN-MAR 76, WATERLOO EAST 52 - Josh Montague led all scorers with 19 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead Class 4A top ranked Linn-Mar (14-0, 9-0 MVC) at Waterloo East.Ian McBrayer added 17 points for the Lions, Marcus Paige 14 points and Shane Benton 11 points.Shane Hodges scored 12 points for East.
C.R. XAVIER 66, WATERLOO WEST 49 - Kevin Hosch and Mitch McLaughlin had 13 points apiece to lead the Cedar Rapids Xavier at Waterloo.Carter Valentine added 12 points for Xavier (4-10, 3-6 MVC).
C.R. WASHINGTON 46, DUBUQUE HEMPSTEAD 33 - Wes Washpun had 16 points and Josh Oglesby 13 as Washington (9-4) won on the road. Washpun also had five steals, two blocked shots and a team-high five rebounds.
