Field managers from the Midwest League's 16 teams selected the leagues 2010 Post Season All-Star Roster and former Cedar Rapids Kernels outfielder Mike Trout was named the MWL Most valuable Player and Prospect of the Year.
Trout was promoted to Rancho Cucamonga on July 13, hitting .362, six home runs and 39 RBIs in 81 games with the Kernels. Trout led the MWL in batting average, stolen bases (45), hits (113), runs scored (76) and on-base percentage (.454) before being called up to the High-A minor league club.
Trout was named the starting center fielder in the league's All-Star Game. He was invited and played in the XM Futures Game this summer.
Trout is the first Kernel player to win both honors and is just the third Cedar Rapids player to achieve the feat. Reggie Sanders and Steve Gibralter was named MWL MVP and Prospect of the Year for the Cedar Rapids Reds. Sanders earned the awards in 1990 and Gibralter in 1992.
