Cedar Rapids Jefferson won three games in the Jefferson Classic through the weekend, defeating Burlington, Newton and Indianola. The J-Hawks' game against New London was called due to rain, one out short of a complete game.
Niemeyer is 1,994-410 in 50 seasons.
Next up for the J-Hawks (7-2): Double-headers this week against Cedar Falls (home, Tuesday) and at Waterloo West (away, Thursday). Both begin at 5:30 p.m.
They'll play in another home tournament next weekend -- Friday against Bondurant-Farrar (3 p.m.) and Southeast Polk (9:30 p.m.), Saturday against Maquoketa (10:30 a.m.) and Solon (6 p.m.).
