WEST DELAWARE at DECORAH (3A)
- Time & place: 7 p.m. at Decorah
- Records: Both teams are 9-2
- Notable: Two of three tri-champions from Class 3A District 4, and Decorah knocked out the other tri-champ (Waverly-Shell Rock, 31-7) in the last round. Cody Sacquitne rushed for 150 yards and three touchdowns, and also kicked a field goal. The Vikings defeated West Delaware, 31-19, in Week 6. The Hawks haven't lost since, though, and pulled a mild upset in the second round, defeating Clear Lake, 23-16.
WILLIAMSBURG at SOLON (3A)
- Time & place: 7 p.m. at Solon
- Records: Both teams are 10-1
- Notable: Solon notched a 22-7 win over Williamsburg in Week 7, and that outcome determined the District 6 crown. Both teams have impressed in the postseason. Fourth-rated Solon spotted Grinnell the first touchdown on Monday, then roared back with 31 straight points in a 31-7 victory. No. 7 Williamsburg has been piling up postseason points, whipping Maquoketa and Clear Creek Amana by decisions of 56-27 and 65-35. The Raiders racked up nearly 500 yards against Clear Creek Amana.
NORTH FAYETTE at DYERSVILLE BECKMAN (2A)
- Time & place: 7 p.m. at Dyersville
- Records: North Fayette is 11-0; Beckman is 9-2
- Notable: Say this about Beckman: The Blazers have mastered the art of winning close games this postseason. After edging Clarion-Goldfield in overtime, the Blazers rallied from an 18-0 deficit to take down Waterloo Columbus, 32-26. Mitch Steger's 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown gave Beckman the lead for good, 19-18, and the Blazers went on to win their eighth straight game. Their last loss came to No. 2 North Fayette, 34-6, in Week 3. North Fayette was locked in a 28-all tie after three quarters against Sumner-Fredericksburg before kicking it in with three late touchdowns to pull away. The Hawks rushed for 391 yards.
IOWA CITY REGINA at SIGOURNEY-KEOTA (2A)
- Time & place: 7 p.m. at Sigourney
- Records: Both teams are 11-0
- Notable: Top-ranked Regina still is seeking a challenge from a 2A opponent. The Regals have dunked their nine 2A foes to the tune of 437-18, including 53-0 and 59-0 against Albia and Mediapolis in the playoffs. Regina leads the state in 2A in both scoring offense (45.5 ppg) and defense (3.6 ppg). A stiffer test should arise from the fourth-rated Savage Cobras, who average 39.1 points per game themselves. Regina will be without standout Braden Lehman, who was ejected for a personal foul on a late hit against Mediapolis and must sit out one game.
WEST BRANCH at NORTH CEDAR (1A)
- Time & place: 7 p.m. at Stanwood
- Records: West Branch is 10-0; North Cedar is 10-1.
- Notable: The top two teams in 1A District 6 meet in a showdown of a Week 9 struggle won by West Branch, 28-21. The third-ranked Bears rallied from a 21-point halftime deficit to win that one. No. 9 North Cedar has gotten through two close postseason battles, edging Turkey Valley 7-0, then knocking off No. 7 Starmont, 36-35 in overtime. West Branch's second-round win over Wapsie Valley was tougher than the 27-9 final would indicate. The Bears trailed 9-6 in the third quarter before Sid Thompson scored on a pair of TD runs and Jake Sheyko tacked on an interception return for a score.
