Anyway, down to business.

- C.J. Beathard is starting today. He was told Thursday after practice. If CJB hands off to LeShun Daniels, will you guys explode in wild ecstasy? I think some of you might.

- Speaking of running backs, it sounds like senior Damon Bullock is back in Iowa City and not playing today. He Snap Chatted a pic of himself with the tagline 'Don't get injured kids . . .” sometime mid-week. Looked like he was getting treatment. Might've been something more. We'll see. I'll keep an eye out.

- Also hearing WR Matt VandeBerg might be out today. This is a low-level rumor rumble. Again, will keep an eye out.

- On Jake Rudock: Heard it was a hip pointer. I watched Iowa's final play of the first half at Pitt last week. Rudock didn't take a helmet on his right hip, but he was pushed full-force by two Pitt defenders, one of which had a full head of steam, onto his right hip. It was the first thing that hit the turf. He got up limping. He stayed on the sidlines in the second half and was extremely into it with CJB. When CJB went out for the final drive, he hit Rudock on the pads and nodded his head. Show of respect and, maybe, thanks.

- Specialists on the field.

- The Doplh confirms CJB is the starter. Jake Rudock is available. He's in uniform and moving around OK. The Doplh said he's available to play. True freshman Tyler Wiegers is the only other QB on the roster. The other night, Texas Tech ended up playing a true frosh QB at Okie State. It wasn't pretty.

- Bullock isn't here. He is out today. Also, MVB isn't here. The punt returner will be one of these dudes: Riley McCarron, KMM or Derrick Mitchell Jr. My guess would be McCarron. Dubuque Wahlert represent.

- FB Macon Plewa (shoulder) is not here today. Bullock and MVB were hurt late in the week and, according to KF, 'no chance they could make it today.”
