The Gazette/Iowa Prep Sports boys' basketball poll

A limited schedule after the holiday break meant there are no changes in the Class 4A portion of this week's Gazette/Iowa Prep Sports boys' basketball poll.

It's still Iowa City West at the top, followed by Bettendorf, Dubuque Senior, North Scott, Ankeny Centennial and Des Moines North. Those are the remaining unbeaten teams in 4A.

Get ready for Friday night because it's No. 1 West and No. 3 Senior in Dubuque. Going into its game Monday night at Iowa City High, the Trojans had a 59-game win streak.

The top four teams remain the same in 3A, even though No. 4 Carroll suffered its first loss, albeit to 4A seventh-ranked Sioux City North. Sixth-rated DeWitt Central also lost for the first time but stayed where it was because it lost to No. 3 Dubuque Wahlert.

In Class 2A, Western Christian remained No. 1, followed by Fort Dodge St. Edmond, Carroll Kuemper, Cascade and Sioux Center. Kuemper moved up to third, Cascade to fourth after No. 3 Rock Valley was shellacked by fifth-ranked Sioux Center.

Entering the poll for the first time in 2A is Prairie City-Monroe at 10th.

Once again, every team in the 1A poll is unbeaten, led by Newell-Fonda (9-0), LeMars Gehlen (8-0) and West Lyon (7-0). Jesup is a first timer at No. 10.Here is the entire poll, with previous ranking in parentheses). Let us know what you think.
