There's a new number one in Class 3A this week.Clear Lake takes over the top spot in The Gazette/Iowa Prep Sports boys' basketball poll. The Lions (11-0) replace Harlan, which lost its first game of the season last Friday night to Class 2A Carroll Kuemper.Kuemper is fifth in 2A this week, by the way.The top three remain the top three in Class 4A, with Dubuque Senior (10-0), Bettendorf (12-0) and North Scott (13-0) in that order. Ankeny Centennial (11-0), coached by former Cedar Rapids Kennedy boss Bob Fontana, jumps a spot ahead of Iowa City West (10-2), which lost an overtime toughie last Saturday to Minneapolis (Minn.) De La Salle.North Scott and Bettendorf play Friday night, as do Senior and Dubuque Wahlert, which is No. 2 in Class 3A. Western Christian (11-0) and Newell-Fonda (12-0) are the top-ranked squads in 1A and A.Here are the entire rankings, with last week's ranking in parentheses:
