Surgery to repair Disterhoft’s right hand

IOWA CITY - University of Iowa women's basketball player Ally Disterhoft played the end of her sophomore season with a ruptured tendon in the area of her right thumb and wrist.
Disterhoft was scheduled for surgery Thursday to repair the injury. She is scheduled to miss basketball activities for 3-4 months.
A sophomore from Iowa City West, Disterhoft averaged 14.8 points per game this season as the Hawkeyes went 26-8 and reached the regional semifinals of the NCAA tounament.
Disterhoft was a second-team all-Big Ten player. Her 503 points this season were fourth most in program history. She was the only sophomore nationally to be named a Capital One Academic All-American.
She is one of two returning starters for 2015-16, joining Whitney Jennings.
