Why would Kurt Warner call a Friday news conference to announce he will honor the second year of his contract?
He wouldn't, of course. That is why all signs point to Warner retiring from the NFL while he still has his wits about him.
Warner, 38, has a chance to go out on a high note – another big statistical season and another postseason run for the Cardinals, the perennial also-ran he led back to prominence. Wisely, he seems prepared to grab that opportunity and move on to a prosperous post-football career.
