The 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series points champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr. made an appearance in Central Iowa on Wednesday, meeting with various media at Pioneer Hi-Bred in Johnston. Stenhouse received a boost from his performances at Iowa Speedway in Newton last year, sweeping both Nationwide contests, en route to the championship.
Stenhouse has two wins this season with seven top-10 finishes and currently owns the points lead with the Pioneer Hi-Bred 250 set for Sunday, May 20 at Iowa Speedway in Newton.
The 24-year-old driver for Roush Fenway Racing talked about his history at Iowa Speedway. Although it has had its ups-and-downs, he has experience plenty of success at the 7/8-mile oval.
He also talked about the finish to the Nationwide Series U.S. Cellular 250 where he blew a motor as he approached the final straight-away and then was pushed across the finish line by teammate Carl Edwards, who said he could avoid the crash, in one of the wildest finishes in Nationwide history.
