Springville's Nissen chooses UNI

Jan. 20, 2014 9:17 pm
[HTML2]SPRINGVILLE - Elias Nissen will be a Northern Iowa Panther in college. Probably, most likely.
The Springville all-stater said Monday he has verbally committed to play football in Cedar Falls, picking UNI over three-time FCS champion North Dakota State, Western Illinois and Wyoming.
"I was impressed with the coaches," Nissen said. "They've got great facilities. It was just one of those things where I felt like it's a great fit for me."
Nissen rushed for 2,218 yards and 48 touchdowns for 8-Player Springville but said he'll be a tight end in college. He should be a good target at 6-foot-6 and 205 pounds. The only thing that would change Nissen's mind about going to Northern Iowa is if Iowa ends up offering him a scholarship late. But right now, he's a Panther.
National Signing Day is February 5.
