Sorden steps down at Solon

SOLON -- After coaching softball for seven straight months from early spring through late summer, Ben Sorden wished to simplify his life."Something had to give," he said Monday, after announcing he has resigned his position as head softball coach at Solon High School."It's too much to be coaching at Coe and Solon at the same time."Sorden led Solon to a 71-17 record the past two season, taking the Spartans to state twice. Last summer, the Spartans were Class 3A state runners-up, dropping a 5-4 decision to Ballard in the finals.He also serves as pitching coach under Bob Timmons at Coe College.Sorden was named Wamac Conference East Division coach of the year in 2011 and 2012.
