Cedar Rapids Kennedy extended its reign in the Mississippi Valley Conference. The Cougars fired 304 as a team Monday at The Meadows Golf Club in Dubuque, giving them a three-round total of 860 and a seventh straight divisional title. The Cougars won the MVC Mississippi Division team title by 70 strokes over Cedar Rapids Jefferson.“The team is turning it on at the right time,” Kennedy Coach Mark Wilden said in an email. “We ended up with five first-team All-MVC golfers, I don't think that has ever been done, and six All-MVC total. I know that has never been done.”Kennedy's Davis Sutton was MVC Mississippi Division Player of the Year, posting an overall score of 203 after firing 75 Monday. He finished 12 shots ahead of teammate Conner Koberg, who was the third-round medalist with a 72. Cole Murdock and Tanner Stewart added a 78 and 79, respectively, for Kennedy.Kennedy was the only team to have a player shoot under 80 Monday, distancing itself from the field that was within 10 strokes after the MVC Super Meet, which serves as the first round.“Conner Koberg shooting par in such windy conditions was awesome and Davis Sutton very deservedly earned MVC Athlete of the Year for our Division, no one was within 10 strokes of him,” said Wilden, noting contributions of Seth Nutt and Ross Grekoff in earlier rounds. “Cole Murdock shot a solid 78 and Tanner Stewart (shot) 79 to help out significantly.”Jefferson's Mitch Willems tied for third overall, shooting 80 for a total of 224. The J-Hawks' Adam and Jake Van Oort earned second-team all-conference honors. Jefferson beat Dubuque Senior by six strokes Monday, edging the Rams by three strokes final standings.Iowa City West's J.D. Goodfellow carded an 81 to finished ninth overall with 230.
