Saints climb to No. 3 in 4A

Cedar Rapids Xavier is inching back up the Gazette football poll in Class 4A.

The Saints (7-1) moved into a third-place tie after blanking Cedar Falls, 14-0, last week at Saints Field.

West Des Moines Dowling remains No. 1 at 8-0. Pleasant Valley (8-0) is second, followed by Xavier and Ames (8-0), who split the third-place votes.

The No. 1 teams remain the same -- Sioux City Heelan is tops in 3A, Waukon in 2A, Iowa City Regina in 1A, BGM in Class A and Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton in 8-Man.

Dowling, Heelan, Regina, and Exira-EHK are unanimous No. 1s.

Regina (8-0) has won 50 consecutive games. Class 3A second-ranked Decorah (8-0) and Class A third-rated Wapsie Valley (8-0) have won 22 in a row.
