Roundup: Lenoch leads West Branch to 5-0

Luke Lenoch raced 64 yards on the first play from scrimmage as third-ranked West Branch rolled to a 42-0 Class 1A District 5 prep football win at Bellevue Friday night.

Lenoch rushed for 157 yards and three touchdowns for the Bears (5-0, 2-0). Cooper Koenig completed 7 of 10 passes for 114 yards and rushed for 105 yards, scoring a pair of TDs.

Aaron Barnes returned a punt for a touchdown for the second consecutive week.

DECORAH 10, WAVERLY-SHELL ROCK 7 — Parker Lane's 23-yard field goal with five seconds left lifted the Vikings to their second straight win.

With the game tied 7-7 with 4:18 left, Decorah marched 63 yards in 10 plays, taking 4:08 off the clock.

Zach Lea rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown for Decorah (2-3, 1-1) and Garrett Wise added 63 rushing yards.

ANAMOSA 45, CAMANCHE 22 — The Raiders moved to 5-0 for the first time since 2004, using a stellar ground game at home.

Anamosa rushed for 320 yards and threw just one pass — an 8-yard TD from Kolin Schulte to Tyler Zumbach. Daniel Husmann led the Raiders with 95 yards on six rushes, scoring on a 26-yard run. Trevor Wehling added 85 yards on three rushes, scoring on a 62-yard run. Jay McLean (70 yards) and Cole Jamison (11) also scored on runs.

Kyle Schepanski added a 92-yard kickoff return and also had two of the Raiders' three interceptions.

MOUNT VERNON 50, MONTICELLO 19 — Drew Adams completed 16 of 29 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns as the Mustangs pulled away in Monticello.

Connor Hermann caught seven passes for 115 yards and a TD and Jack Cochrane rushed 10 times for 104 yards and three TDs for Mount Vernon (4-1, 3-0 in 2A-4).

Jacob Manternach completed 16 of 33 passes for 154 yards and two scores, both to Garrett Reiniets, for the Panthers (3-2, 1-1)

WEST DELAWARE 28, CRESTWOOD 15 — Coy Roussell rushed for 193 yards and two touchdowns as the Hawks (5-0, 2-0) won a tight battle in Cresco.

Roussell, who carried the ball 33 times, scored on runs of 7 and 93 yards. Max Ridenour completed 12 of 29 passes for 254 yards and two TDs, hitting John Nagel from 13 yards out and Owen Ward from 19.

NEW HAMPTON 20, CENTER POINT URBANA 15 — Alex Troyna scored on a one-yard quarterback sneak to cap off a game-winning 15-play, 99-yard drive as the Chickasaws (3-2, 2-0) defeated the Stormin' Pointers (3-2, 1-2) in a Class 2A District 3 showdown.

EAST BUCHANAN 47, STARMONT 12 — Carter Downer rushed for 113 yards and Jacob Schmitt added 174 yards and a TD on 10 carries for the Bucs.

Schmitt also had a 62-yard punt return for a TD.

CLAYTON RIDGE 33, DYERSVILLE BECKMAN 25 — Jace Moore led the Eagles with 397 yards passing as Class 1A District 4 Clayton Ridge (2-3, 0-2) downed the Class 2A District 3 Blazers (2-3, 1-1) in Dyersville.

Sawyer Schmelzer caught six passes for 152 yards for the Eagles.

Sam Stelken led Beckman with 168 passing yards.

ELKADER CENTRAL 64, MIDLAND 46 — Aaron Hoth led the Warriors (5-0) with four touchdowns on 32 carries totaling 307 yards in a 8-Player District 4 win over Midland (3-2).

Zach Grant added a TD and gained 104 yards with 14 carries.
