According to Lisbon Coach Brian Hall, this year's Lisbon team has set the program's record for season dual wins. The Lions are 19-2. The previous best was a 17-1 record. Is this year's teams the teams of old that fielded wrestlers with the name Morningstar, Stoneking, Alger, Butteris, Happel, Light, Stewart, etc., etc. No. Were they aided by hosting a second dual event where they went 5-0. Yes.Don't let the last two points diminish how good this team is and how they have rekindled that great success associated with Lisbon wrestling over the years.Freshman 103-pounder Kolbi Kohl has been impressive, 119-pounder Chris Taylor has been exceptional, Tait and Zach Simpson at 112 and 140, respectively, have had good seasons. Mitch Montgomery is strong at 215. They make a strong nucleus to build around. On a side note, I was informed we published results listing Tait Simpson as Tait Stamp. I take the full blame on that one. As I told the emailer, I must have had flashbacks to my high school days when I wrestled against Tait Stamp 2 or 3 times. The mind's the first to go. My sincere apologies for the mistake.
