Iowa City West wrestling coach Mark Reiland surpassed 300 dual wins Jan. 15 when the Trojans defeated Lombard (Ill.) Montini Catholic, 40-19.Reiland has coached for 14 seasons, including 12 seasons at West. He was the head coach at Solon previously. He became just the 25th coach in Iowa history to reach 300 wins. Reiland's teams are 303-44-1 in duals overall."Obviously, it's just one of those milestones you don't really envision on the way to it," Reiland said, "but once you're there it's nice to have."The top-ranked Trojans are 31-2 this season, going 11-0 to win the Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division. The last four years West has won more than 100 duals. The entire stretch includes MVC victories, West vs. Iowa City High rivalry meets and State Duals championships, which rank as the most memorable."There's a lot of really tough meets and a lot of meets of importance," said Reiland, whose West teams have reached the Class 3A State Duals Championship the last five years and seven of the last eight, winning four titles with the last being in 2007. "The state finals we won end up being the most important."
