Registration dates set for Iowa City-Coralville youth hockey leagues

Hockey players who want to compete in the Iowa City-Coralville Hockey Association's youth hockey leagues can register for the 2011-12 season in one of two meetings on Monday, Aug. 29 or Thursday, Sept. 1.
The meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Coral Ridge Ice Arena at the Coral Ridge Mall in Coralville. Families need attend only one of the two meetings.
This season, the association will offer house leagues and travel teams for players at the Mite (ages 7 and 8), Squirt (ages 9 and 10) and Pee Wee (ages 11 and 12) levels. All practices and house league games will be played at the Coral Ridge Ice Arena.
The 2011-12 season begins with practices the week of Oct. 31 and games the week of Nov. 8.
Players must first register with USA Hockey before they can register with the Iowa City-Coralville Association. To register with USA Hockey, complete a registration form at www.usahockey.com and bring a print-out of the completed form to the meeting. Players must also bring a copy of their birth certificates.
At the registration meetings, association officials will provide more information about costs, game and practice schedules, and playing and practice philosophy. Attendance is mandatory for at least one parent or guardian. An equipment exchange will also be held.
