The UNI-Dome is already a familiar place to Jared Brinkman. It will soon become his home field.
The Iowa City Regina Class of 2017 lineman announced Wednesday on Twitter his commitment to the University of Northern Iowa.
'It's been an awesome recruiting process and I'd like to thank my family, friends and coaches who have gotten me to this point,' Brinkman wrote. 'After talking it over with my family I'm excited and blessed to say I'm committing to the University of Northern Iowa.'

The Regals have won six straight state championships, and Brinkman has been on the roster for the last two. He was a Class 1A first-team all-state offensive lineman last fall and had 63 solo tackles and six sacks on defense.
According to Rivals, which lists him as a defensive tackle, Brinkman also held offers from Army (FBS), Western Illinois (FCS) and Northwest Missouri State (D-II).
Brinkman is a multi-sport star, claiming the Class 1A heavyweight title in February with a perfect 42-0 record and finishing runner-up in the Class 2A shot put this spring with a throw of 61 feet, 1 inch.
