Price named Xavier softball coach

Nikki Price has been promoted to head softball coach at Cedar Rapids Xavier.She will replace Brian Erbe, who resigned to take the head coaching position at Cedar Rapids Jefferson.Price has been an assistant at Xavier the past eight seasons, and was elevated to interim coach while Erbe recovered from heart surgery. She led the Saints to a 24-18 record.A native of Alburnett, Price played softball collegiately at Kirkwood Community College and Minnesota State University before becoming assistant coach at Xavier. She is currently in the graduate program at Graceland University and will complete the program this December.Xavier Athletics Director Mike Winker said, “Nikki has been a big part of the success that Xavier has accomplished in softball over the past eight seasons. I believe it was important for our program at this time to keep a philosophical continuity for the athletes."She has earned the opportunity to direct the Xavier softball program. I look forward to working with Nikki as she brings her own ideas to making our program even better.”
