West Branch junior running back Bo Bower scored three touchdowns to lead the Bears to a dramatic, 21-20, victory over West Liberty in West Branch tonight.
After West Liberty kicker Tallen Zoller kicked the second of two field goals - a 39-yarder - to tie the game at 13, the Bears fumbled on the second play of their next drive and West Liberty drove the ball 63 yards, capped off by an Eric McKillip 18-yard touchdown run. The extra point gave the Comets a 20-13 lead with 2:21 left in the game.
West Branch then drove 90 yards in 11 plays, capped by the third of Bower's touchdowns, this one a 18-yard run, to make it 20--19. The Bears used their final two time outs to decide to go for a two-point conversion with 21.8 seconds left.
Cade Jones scored the PAT to give West Branch the win.

VINTON-SHELLSBURG 18, BENTON COMMUNITY 12 (OT) - Nolan Edwards scored three touchdowns for the Vikings, including the game winner in overtime.
Edwards followed his final touchdown with an interception in the next series to seal the win over Benton at Van Horne.
STARMONT 37, EAST BUCHANAN 0 - Vinny Otdoerfer picked up 189 yards on 16 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead the Stars.
Alan Hays added 114 yards on seven carries for the winners.
IOWA VALLEY 41, ENGLISH VALLEYS 0 - John Gormley rushed for 212 yards and five touchdowns on just 14 carreis to pace the Tigers.
ELKADER CENTRAL 42, MFL MAR MAC 25 - Central's Cody Bennington ran for 214 yards on 18 carries, rushing for four touchdowns and scoring another on a 83-yard kickoff return.
Isiah Hopp was 8-for-12 passing for 124 yards and a touchdown for the Warriors at home.
WEST DELWARE 24, MAQUOKETA 21 - West Delaware quarterback Trey MacTaggart completed 10-of-14 passes for 228 yards to lead the Hawks in Manchester.
Jacyn Goeble caught a 13 yard touchdown and Jack Curley caught a 3-yard reception pass from MacTaggart.
Chase Coakley complted 17 of 34 passes for 136 yards and completed 3 touchdown passes in the loss for Maquoketa.

MAQUOKETA VALLEY 34, ED-CO 0 – The Wildcat's rolled on the road with 520 yards of total offense.
Cody Schindler connected on seven of his nine passes for 115 yards and a TD and Kyle Whitman had 260 yards on 15 carries with two scores.
UNION 20, DECORAH 17 - Wes Burnside had 169 yards rushing and two touchdowns to lead Union to a come-from-behind win in LaPorte City.
Blake Moen threw a 45-yard touchdown to Kyle Kregel to give Decorah a 17-6 lead with 3:56 to play. Union then put together two long drives with Burnside scoring on touchdown runs of 5 and 4 yards to give Union the lead with 6:16 to play.
Union's defense held to give the Knights (1-0) the win at home.
ANAMOSA 21, MONTICELLO 18- Nik Schulte completed 9 of 19 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns to lead teh Raiders to a
win at Monticello.
Four of Schulte's passes went to his brother, Josh, who totaled 89 yards and a TD. Aaron Krapfl had three catches for 67 yards and a TD.
Anamosa went 0-9 last year.
Jacob Black rushed for 83 yards and a toucdown for Monticello.
TRIPOLI 46, WEST CENTRAL 30 – James Barz and Shane Buchholz each scored three touchdowns for Tripoli and Michael Lincoln rushed for two scores for West Central.
CASCADE 42, CLAYTON RIDGE 24 - Quarterback Tim Kleitsch completed 7 of 15 carries for 241 yards, inlcuding a 49-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Junk.
Jared Manterach caught a 66-yard touchdown reception pass from Tim Klietsch as Cascade rolled to their first win of the season.
DYERSVILLE BECKMAN 34, WESTERN DUBUQUE 7 - Conner Goldman passed for 174 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another as the Blazers won at home.
Golden threw touchdown passes to Ty Troutman and Mitch Steger, and scored on a 1-yard run.
Robbie Anstoetter led all receivers with six catches for 83 yards.
