Prairie's Harper heading to Iowa Western C.C.

Demetrius Harper is heading to a national championship program.The Cedar Rapids Prairie senior wide receiver gave a verbal commitment Thursday to continue his football career at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs. The Reivers won a national junior college title two weeks ago with a 27-7 win over Butler (Kan.).IWCC has had a football program only four years. JUCO player of the year Jake Waters committed Thursday to Kansas State to play quarterback."Iowa Western has really developed some terrific players," Prairie Coach Mike Morrissey. "Hopefully Demetrius will follow suit."Harper caught 59 passes for 685 yards this season for Prairie. He had nine total touchdowns, including a pair on kickoff returns.He is the second Hawks receiver in as many days to announce their college plans. Jarred Edmonds committed Wednesday to Northern Iowa.
