CEDAR RAPIDS - The Cedar Rapids Prairie football program honored late strength and conditioning coach Kenny Hanzlik Thursday, placing a black-and-orange sticker with his initials on the players' helmets.
The dedication includes a sticker of an orange football and KH in black letters to memorialize Hanzlik, who served as the Hawks' strength and conditioning coach for 13 years.
Hanzlik died in May at the age of 75, taking over the strength and conditioning coach post under former head coach Craig Jelinek, who resigned after last season and was replaced by new coach Mike Morrissey. Hanzlik graduated from Wilson High School, and became an assistant when he retired after 40 years of service for the City of Cedar Rapids.
Ken Hanzlik, a volunteer strength coach, yells instructions as the CR Prairie football team warms up at the beginning of practice on Tuesday August 30, 2005 at Prairie High School in Cedar Rapids.
