Pools released for Westside Invitational

Cedar Rapids Jefferson athletics director Scott Kibby has released pool assignments for the Westside Invitational volleyball tournament.The Westside is Oct. 9, with 24 teams entered. Iowa City West is the defending champion.Here are the pools:

Pool A (at Jefferson, new gym) -- Mount Vernon, Waterloo Columbus, Dubuque Hempstead, South Tama.

Pool B (at Jefferson, new gym) -- West Delaware, West Des Moines Dowling, Williamsburg, Cedar Rapids Jefferson.

Pool C (at Jefferson, old gym) -- Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Linn-Mar, Des Moines Roosevelt, Indianola.

Pool D (at Washington) -- Iowa City West, Dike-New Hartford, Marion, Cedar Rapids Washington.

Pool E (at Washington) -- Tripoli, Cedar Rapids Xavier, West Liberty, Waterloo West.

Pool F (at Jefferson, old gym) -- Dubuque Wahlert, Urbandale, North Cedar, Aplington-Parkersburg.Thirteen teams are currently ranked, including top-rated Mount Vernon (3A) and Tripoli (1A).Pool play begins at 8:30 a.m., with bracket play scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
