Pole Vault in the Mall returns to Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - The Pole Vault in the Mall exhibition of the Drake Relays will return next week with a new format.
The event, which will be held at the Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines on April 27, will feature female pole vaulters for the first time.
Officials have also introduced a team format. A male and female athlete will be paired up to compete for a team championship based on the best combined finish.
Four of the top eight vaulters in both the men's and women's U.S. rankings will take part in competition.
Derek Miles, ranked fourth in the world and the winner in 2008, heads the men's field.
The Drake Relays is set for April 28-30 at Drake Stadium.
