Former Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads has a new gig.
Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema announced Wednesday Rhoads is the Razorbacks' new defensive backs coach.
'I'm thrilled to be joining the Arkansas program and can't wait to help build on the success coach Bielema and the staff have already experienced in three years,' Rhoads said in a release. 'Not only does coach Bielema have a track record of building winning programs but also developing young men of great character. Both are things I'm excited to be part of.'
Rhoads was 32-55 in seven years at Iowa State and was fired after the Cyclones went 3-9 in 2015.
His background is on the defensive side of the ball. Rhoads was defensive coordinator at Pittsburgh (2000-07) and Auburn (2008) prior to coming to ISU.
'Paul has had a long standing reputation as a great teacher and recruiter even prior to his years of experience as a coordinator and head coach,' said Bielema, the former Hawkeye who is 18-20 at Arkansas after spending seven years as Wisconsin head coach. 'He instantly brings years of experience to our defensive staff room and has coached the secondary and defensive backs to the highest levels of success.'
The Razorbacks were 8-5 last year and finished third in the SEC West (5-3).
