Oriole Vollyeball is alive and well, and the Orioles have a flapjack queen.Sporting number 3, senior Karlee Markley oughta be nicknamed the spatula..because that young lady has MAD pancaking skills. At least three times, during last night's sweep of Alburnett, Karlee rescued the Orioles from what looked like done deal kills. Joining her in making some seriously amazing saves were libero Aleasea Bednarz, and number 7- Katie Wyman. Averaging 2.2 digs and 1.2 kills per game, Katie looks to be one of the best all-around players the Orioles have had in recent memory. With Hannah Loehr, Maggie Ray & Hope Matus filling front court positions, and CJ Fitzgerald serving up plenty of aces, the Orioles are sitting close to the top of the conference in kills, blocks, assists and serves. This year the Orioles are once again proudly wearing "Spikin for a Cure" breast cancer awareness warm-up shirts. Fans will also soon be seen sporting "Fight Like A Girl" shirts, proceeds of which will benefit ALS Research.Under the leadership of Coach Eastman & Coach Howard, the Orioles have had three sweeps and are undefeated in conference play...and though its early in the season, from the looks of things, they just might be on track to be contenders for the conference title.... So...come on out and watch them play!
GO ORIOLES!!
