#oniowapod — This one gets all staff search and staff dynamic-y

IOWA CITY — Have to admit, Land of 10's Scott Dochterman and I wandered around quite a bit during the opener.
Yes, there was Packers talk. You'll have to excuse me. I'll take the hit on that one.
But, I swear, we did get to Iowa football talk. There's a lot going on, as you know.
— Who are the new assistant coaches going to be?
I offered my list. Please listen. I think it's a logical list. Scott offered his ideas. You're going to have to listen. We got a lot of #oniowapod Twitter questions on the next coaches.
Reset: Iowa is realistically in the market for three assistants — O-line, running backs and wide receiver. In April, when — and I believe it's a when and not an if — the 10th coach legislation is passed by the Division I council, that'll be four openings.
Right now, I would say dump the traditional idea of what a staff might be.
You're for sure going to see an element of passing offense, probably in the form of a QB coach. Will that also come with a 'passing game' coordinator? Will QB and WR be put on one coach's plate? Does TE fit into that?
And what about defense? Special teams? The shape of this will take shape with the hires. But really, it could be anything. This could — COULD — be a new paradigm.
— What in the heck is going on with recruiting?
We talked a little about this. Will get into it more on the next pod.
Iowa football recruiting could use an espresso.
I might be off one or two, but I have the PJ Fleck vs. Iowa recruiting board at 1-0 Fleck with the commitment of Kansas WR Harry Van Dyne.
— Got a really great question from our friend Trent Condon, of 1700 The Champ in Des Moines.
'What's your biggest concern with Brian taking over the OC position?'
Scott and I answered with different elements of staff dynamics. Communication and debate, how will that work with the head coach's son now calling the plays on offense?
Will the new WR/QB/passing game guy be able to express a disagreement and get his point across?
I believe this is a contingency KF and BF have discussed. And remember what BF said last week, the bottom line is putting the team/players in position to win.
We spent a little time on this one.
— Chad Greenway as a coach? Drew Tate as a coach?
You asked, we discussed.
— We answer some basketball questions. I didn't want to touch it, but Scott did actually field and answer the possible transfer question for next year. (That's a legit question, BTW.)
— Yes, if the Packers, Blackhawks and Cubs reign as champions simultaneously I will combust. Simultaneously.
— Eno? We talked it. Did it factor in last week's staff news? Don't know for sure.
Thank you for the #oniowapod Twitter questions. Hope you enjoy.
