The Cedar Rapids Washington girls basketball team got itself back on a winning streak last night, easily dispatching crosstown rival Cedar Rapids Jefferson, 70-52, to get back-to-back wins and their third in the last four games.
The Warriors are also 9-2 in their last 11 games, with those two losses coming to Class 4A No. 7 Cedar Rapids Xavier and Class 5A No. 8 Cedar Rapids Kennedy.
Kandis O'Donnell scored 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead Washington last night on the road at Jefferson.
Payton Bruner added 11 points for the Warriors (13-8, 5-8 MVC).
Kennedy Dighton and Kylie Wise each scored 14 points to pace the Jefferson (7-14, 4-9 MVC) offense.
C.R. XAVIER 82, WATERLOO EAST 21
- The Saints clinched a share of the Mississippi Division title with City High after a win at home over Waterloo East.
Lizzy Bailey scored a game-high 12 points and Madi Nelson and Megahan Joens added 10 points apiece. Xavier forced 32 East turnovers and out-rebounded the Trojans by a 36-20 margin.
