What to know: Iowa State an 11-game winning streak, the longest among power-conference teams.
The Cyclones climbed a spot to No. 2 Monday in the AP Top 25, their all-time highest ranking. No. 9 Kansas was ranked first in the preseason AP poll and stayed there for four weeks.
Hunter Dickinson, a 7-foot-2, fifth-year senior, leads the Jayhawks with 15.8 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. He has been a second-team All-America at both Michigan and Kansas.
Guard Zeke Mayo averages 14.3 points. He was the Summit League’s Player of the Year last season at South Dakota State, and scored 19 points in the Jackrabbits’ 82-65 NCAA tournament loss to Iowa State.
Though senior guard Curtis Jones isn’t a starter, he is second in minutes played for the Cyclones and leads them in scoring with 17.3 points per game after scoring 23 points against Utah and 26 at Texas Tech in a pair of wins last week.
Iowa State has won its last two home games against Kansas. The Jayhawks were ranked seventh entering ISU’s 79-75 win in Ames last year and eighth before the Cyclones’ 68-53 triumph in 2023.
