Nigel Tribune suspended indefinitely following arrest
Jul. 25, 2016 1:18 pm
Iowa State defensive back Nigel Tribune has been suspended indefinitely after an arrest early Sunday morning in Ames and is facing an OWI charge.
The OWI charge was a first offense, but Tribune also received charges of failure to use headlamps when required and failure to prove security against liability.
According to a report, the incident occurred at 2:52 a.m. at Lincoln Way and Hickory Drive in Ames. After he was pulled over for not using headlamps, Tribune reportedly had watery, bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol. After failing a field sobriety test, a preliminary breath test showed Tribune was above the legal limit of .08.
Tribune is a three-year starter for the Cyclones secondary, but is listed as a backup at cornerback to Jomal Wiltz in the pre-fall camp depth chart. He played in 11 games in 2015 and started eight while tallying 37 tackles, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
