Iowa drew a No. 4 seed in the NCAA baseball tournament and will take on top-seeded and host Houston in the first round at 7 p.m. Friday (ESPNU).
No. 2 seed Baylor and No. 3 seed Texas A&M join the Hawkeyes and Cougars in the Houston regional. The Bears and Aggies square off at 2 p.m. Friday (ESPN2).
The 16 regionals have four teams each and are a double-elimination format. The winners advance to the super regionals, a best-of-three series for one of eight spots in the College World Series. The Houston regional is paired with the Chapel Hill, N.C., regional, which features No. 2 national seed North Carolina.
It's the Hawkeyes' second regional appearance in three years. They won two games at Springfield, Mo., in 2015 before being eliminated.
