MVC releases volleyball tournament pools

IOWA CITY -- Pool assignments have been released for the Mississippi Valley Conference volleyball tournament Saturday at West High School.

Pool A (at Northwest Junior High): Iowa City High (30-2), Cedar Rapids Prairie (10-17), Dubuque Senior (9-16), Waterloo East (4-21).

Pool B (at West): Iowa City West (27-6), Cedar Rapids Washington (15-14), Cedar Rapids Xavier (16-13), Waterloo West (18-13).

Pool C (at West): Dubuque Wahlert (21-7), Cedar Falls (22-9), Linn-Mar (8-20).

Pool D (at West): Dubuque Hempstead (22-6), Cedar Rapids Kennedy (22-8), Cedar Rapids Jefferson (2-27).

Pools C and D will play a cross-pool match ... Wahlert faces Jefferson, Cedar Falls plays Kennedy, Hempstead meets Linn-Mar.

The top two teams from each pool advance to the championship bracket. The entire championship bracket will be played at West.

Pool play opens at 9 a.m., with the bracket scheduled to start around 2 p.m.

West has won the last three MVC tournament titles.
