Murphy, Reiland lead Grand March

DES MOINES - West Delaware Athletics Director Bob Murphy and former Iowa City West Athletics Director Marv Reiland will play a major role in the state wrestling tournament's championship festivities.Murphy and Reiland are among six wrestling officials, who have worked at least 20 state wrestling tournaments and will lead the Grand March before the championship bouts Saturday at Wells Fargo Arena. They will escort the parade of 336 student-athletes who placed in the top-eight of their respective weight classes.Murphy, a native of Parnell, placed fourth at the state tournament in 1970. He became an official in 1972 and is working his 21st state championship overall. Murphy is also an Associate Principal at West Delaware.Reiland, an accomplished wrestler at Eagle Grove High School and University of Northern Iowa, is a member of the Iowa High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame as a wrestling coach. Reiland, who retired from his position at West after last school year, has been an official for 43 years and is working his 20th state tournament.
