But they're still defending state champions. And they're still alive.
The Mount Vernon Mustangs are in a familiar spot -- on the brink of the state volleyball tournament. They'll face fourth-ranked Grundy Center in a Class 2A regional final at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Vinton.
