IOWA CITY -- Iowa City West junior Mikaela Morgan has verbally committed to play basketball at the University of Northern Iowa, joining the team in the fall of 2015.
'UNI was a place that was attractive to me because of my brother Jeremy playing on the men's team there," Morgan said in a news release.
"We have a bond and it will be fun to play at the same school as him.It will also be nice have my family be able to watch both of us. I am also excited to play for a program that has a winning tradition, great coaches and outstanding players.'
Morgan, a 5-foot-10 guard/forward, was first team All-Mississippi Valley Conference this season and third-team INA All-State. She averaged 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and 2.5 steals.
As a sophomore, she helped West to the state tournament.'Mikaela is a player who has just scratched the surface regarding her basketball ability,' said Iowa City West Head Coach B.J. Mayer in the news release. 'She has the ability to contribute in a variety of ways, including scoring, rebounding, and on the defensive end of the floor. Northern Iowa is getting a great basketball player, and an even better young lady.'
