CEDAR RAPIDS - With only two game days last week, there is very little change in the initial Gazette boys' basketball poll of the new year.
The number ones remain the same: Iowa City West (Class 4A), Waverly-Shell Rock (3A), Iowa City Regina (2A) and Gladbrook-Reinbeck (6-0). West, Waverly and Regina all had victories last week while G-R did not play.
The marquee 4A game, if it's not postponed by weather, this week is Tuesday night's matchup between No. 7 Linn-Mar and No. 8 Cedar Rapids Kennedy, both 5-1.
In 3A, second-ranked Dubuque Wahlert (4-3) had an impressive 71-49 victory over seventh-ranked DeWitt Central last Saturday, which dropped Central out of the rankings. That game was a rematch of last year's Class 3A state championship game.
