TROY MILLS - Recent trips to the Drake University campus have been fruitful endeavors for Nicole Miller.
In May, she left with a state track championship.
Wednesday, she left with a scholarship offer. And she took it.
A senior-to-be at North Linn High School, Miller has orally committed to play women's basketball for the Bulldogs, beginning with the 2015-16 season.
'They offered, and it felt right,” Miller said Wednesday afternoon via cell phone on the road home from Des Moines. 'It's finally sinking in that I'll be a Division-I basketball player. It's what I've always wanted. It's a dream come true.”
A 5-foot-9 guard, Miller averaged 25.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 4.1 steals per game last year as North Linn went 24-2 and reached the Class 2A state semifinals.
In three years, Miller has compiled 1,491 points while the Lynx have posted a 68-8 record.
She anchored three relays to championships last month, leading North Linn to the 1A girls' state track title.
Miller plans to major in biology.
Drake is undergoing a resurgence under Coach Jennie Baranczyk, whose second season netted a 17-15 record and a berth in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament finals.
