Class 4A No. 4 Iowa City West made 12 3-point field goals, including six from Brianna Sturtz, en route to a 65-56 Mississippi Valley Conference home victory last night over in-town rival Iowa City High.Sturtz finished with 23 points for West (11-1 overall, 9-1 MVC). Ally Disterhoft added 15 points, and Jessica Shull scored 14 points for the Women of Troy.University of Iowa signee Virginia Johnson scored a game-high 28 points, and Sierra Chambers added 14 points for the No. 6 Little Hawks (11-3, 7-3), who trailed 30-28 at halftime.
Cedar Rapids Xavier 43, Cedar Rapids Prairie 14Emily Walvoord scored 16 points to lead Xavier to the victory at home.Annie Dale and Krissi Tow each added nine points for the Saints (11-3, 7-3 MVC), who jumped to a 19-4 advantage at halftime.Tow also pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.Katie Wieland scored four points to top the scoring for Prairie (3-9, 2-7).
