Loveless expected to play for Solon tonight

Solon standout Derrick Loveless is expected to return for the fourth-ranked Spartans Class 3A state quarterfinal at home against No. 7 Williamsburg on Monday night. Both teams are 10-1.Loveless broke his fibula during the the Spartans' regular-season 22-7 win over the Raiders on Oct. 8. He scored a touchdown on a 2-yard run o the Spartans opening drive of that game and left before halftime. He has not played since that contest.He practiced Sunday night, according to Solon Coach Kevin Miller.“He's ready to go,” Miller said. “There's no question about that.“If he wants to play that's half the battle. he wants to be a part of this football team. I appreciate his willingness to come back and help our football team.”In just seven games, Loveless had 235 receiving yards with two touchdowns. He also gained 121 rushing yards with seven TDs. Miller expects him to play a significant role and not just dress.“We hope Derrick Loveless will be a contributor,” Miller said. “We're really excited to have him return.”
