LONE TREE - The Lisbon girls' basketball team is again saving its best for the postseason.Sophomore Danielle Heiken scored 12 points and Brittany Frey added 10 as the Lions downed Cedar Valley Christian, 39-32, in a Class 1A second-round regional game Tuesday night at Lone Tree High School.“They like the postseason,” Lisbon coach Darin Hofmeister said of his 9-15 team, which advanced to the regional semifinals for a second straight year.To do so they had to fight through a gutty group of Cedar Valley Huskies, who had just six players in uniform.“They finished the season well,” Cedar Valley Christian coach Craig Foote said.“Some people, you know, start well and some people finish well, and they just really, really finished the season well.”Huskies' sophomore Shelby Hembera, who scored 34 points in an opening-round win over Lone Tree, started strong with 11 points as Cedar Valley clung to an 18-16 halftime advantage. In the second half, she was held without a basket and finished with 14 points.“That was definitely something we discussed at halftime,” Hofmeister said. “She had some offensive putbacks, offensive rebounds, but, yeah, I thought defensively we did a job. She's a really good player.”With 6:28 left and a 28-28 tie, Lisbon's Alexa Moothart returned after sitting for nearly seven-and-a-half minutes with foul trouble. She helped the Lions pull away, converting a bucket in the paint on a nice pass from senior Zeva Light. Heiken punctuated a six-point burst with a steal and a driving layup to make it 34-28.“I felt like we passed the ball, moved the ball really well, got open shots for me and a lot of other people,” Heiken said.Senior Izzy Hoffman had eight points for Cedar Valley (4-17).“I just told them to remember the good things, remember their teammates, remember the special moments they had,” Foote said.Lisbon plays Saturday at Wheatland against Preston.
